Welcome to Nan Nan’s Daycare Blog!
“A place where blogging, diapers, bottles, colors and shapes play together!”
Parents and Students,
I am extremely excited to introduce to you our first blog! This is the beginning of what I know will be a successful daycare year for you and your child.
I know that a lot of you may have questions about what blogging is.
A blog is an online version of a journal. You can use it to talk about a variety of topics.
Before I go any further, I want to ensure you of your child’s safety on this blog. This site will only be accessible for parents who sign-up. Although this blog will not address personal matters, I have set all privacy settings to ensure and respect the privacy of you and your child.
That being said, we will be using this blog to discuss matters of the daycare, thoughts, words, photos and questions of the day, as well as integrating curriculum for your child to advance from home.
There are several ways to integrate blogging into curriculum.
Here at Nan Nan’s Daycare we are proud to say that we have integrated computer usage into our curriculum. Your two, three, and/or four-year old will have daily (supervised and instructed) access to a computer. Linking computer technology with your child’s daily curriculum, will allow them to expand and retain their knowledge of basic learning skills in a creative format.
Two- year olds will be able to use age*appropriate (linked) games to learn more about colors and shapes. Three and four-year olds will be able to review their daily words, songs and videos of the day.
Benefits of communication
It is our hope that Nan Nan’s Daycare Blog can be used as an extended communication tool which will allow parents to see as well as assist their child on what they are learning in their classroom.
Happy Blogging!

***This is not an actual 'letter' to parents/students***
ReplyDeleteWhen I started writing, I thought it would be a creative idea to answer the questions as though I were speaking to an actual parent.
Wow! You are very creative. Your blog is great. I like how you put the blog as a letter to parents and students. I like your ways on how to integrate blogging into curriculum. Your blog is honest and if a parent were to read it they would feel very comfortable with leaving their child with you. I can't wait to read more of your blogs. You are going to be a great teacher.
ReplyDeleteThank you Leslie!
ReplyDeleteMy hat is off to you. I really thought it was a real blog notice to parents of a daycare. This was very creative and well written. I would be comfortable using it if I was a parent of a child in your daycare. You used the integration of blogging in the curriculum and explained to parents how it would connect the classroom and the internet. Happy Blogging!
ReplyDelete:O) Thank you Ms. Phyllis!
ReplyDeleteI love your daycare blog. It was very creative. I think the ideas that you had in it about computers for the very young and actually using the blog as a communication tool with parents were great.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tricia. Hopefully, one day this will be a reality...:O)
