CREATIVE MATH

Parents,

Nan Nan's House is EXTREMELY proud of the Math progression our Pre-K students have made thus far!!!

They are well on their way to Kindergarten :O)

It is no mystery that some parents/ students cringe when they hear the word; "MATH".

We at Nan Nan's House are believe the first step to overcoming FEAR is the MIND-SET.

Our Pre-K MOTTO derives from Philippians 4:13; which declares: I can do ALL things through Christ who STRENGTHENS me.

Even at a young age, they realize they need a Jesus to achieve their goals. There determination and eagerness to learn is inspiring.

To continue the progress at home, there is an awesome website that will help you prepare your child for kindergarten. There are tons of at-home/ on the road activities that you can do one- on- one, individually or as a family. We encourage all three!

Cool Math 4 Parents give 12 categorized tips and games to help launch your child's success

Here are a few of our favorites:

While Driving, you can ask your child questions such as:

"How many shapes of street signs can you find?" (Stop signs are octagons, yield signs are diamonds, etc.)
"Let's go on a Number Hunt! Tell me when you see some numbers."

Getting your child dressed at times can be a challenge! Try making a fun game out of it by asking questions such as:

"What should we put on first?"
"What should we put on next?" (or second)
(The concept of first, second, third and so on are important!)

Eating Fruits and Veggies will no longer be a hassle when using games such as:

Oranges:
Peel and separate the slices. Count before eating.
Slice the orange crosswise and count the triangles.
Bananas:
Slice into circles and count them before eating. Be sure to notice the shape! You can use toothpicks to make banana lollipops! Find the biggest circles. Find the smallest circles.
Count how many bananas are in the bunch... Take one off to eat. "How many are left?"
Discuss subtracting 1 from 5 (or however many were in the bunch.)

Please let us know how you enjoyed this site and feel free to give us suggestions of your own via email, blog, or the suggestion box in lobby.

Blessings,

They have such a cute way to get little ones interested in math. The blog is wonderful as always. You will truly be an amazing daycare owner if you do decide to go for it. God will let you know if you are supposed to do it. Keep listening.

*I tried to vote but it isn't counting my vote.
